Dorsey & Whitney LLP is seeking an associate attorney to join the Trial Department in our Palo Alto office. This associate will have the opportunity to work in all phases of general commercial litigation, from pleading through trial and appeal, for individual and entity clients in a variety of industries. This position would involve significant responsibility over pending cases, in-court experience and active trial and motion work. 

This associate will join a team of dedicated senior associates and partners in Dorsey’s growing Securities & Financial Services Litigation Practice Group serving as national litigation counsel to major banks, finance companies, retailers and high tech industry participants. The associate will assist in high-dollar matters, often involving cutting edge and novel legal issues, handling all phases of investigations and litigation involving the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, state agency matters, or class action suits across the country, including defending companies or individuals in CID and federal enforcement investigations, analyzing and recommending responses to pleadings, drafting and responding to discovery demands, drafting dispositive and procedural motions, witness preparation, case analysis and preparing cases for arbitration and trial. In addition, the associate will help advise corporate clients on complex questions of consumer financial law at the state and federal law and develop appropriate strategies to reduce regulatory risk. Examples of salient topical experience include:  federal laws such as CFPA/UDAAP, TILA, RESPA, EFTA, FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, and state law pertaining to consumer finance. Dorsey attorneys receive competitive compensation and benefits packages.


The following qualifications are required:

- Three to five years of commercial litigation experience

- Excellent research and writing skills

- Strong academic performance


The following qualifications are also desirable:

- CFPB experience

- Financial services litigation experience

- California bar admission
